Pablo Briñol is distinguished professor of psychology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain), where he obtained his BA (1995) and PhD (1999) degrees. He is also a regular visiting scholar at Ohio State University. His research interest focuses on the study of the psychological mechanisms underlying attitudes and persuasion, with an emphasis on meta-cognitive processes and the processes of change. Dr. Briñol is also the co-founder of the Sociedad Científica Española de Psicología Social (SCEPS) where he served on the executive board, and the former editor of the International Journal of Social Psychology.
Dr. Briñol has produced over 200 peer reviewed publications in top journals of the field (e.g., JPSP, PPS, Psych Review, Psych Science, Psych Bull), receiving more than 18,000 citations, with nearly 15,000 citations in the last five years. More than 50 of those publications reached at least 100 citations. H index = 61 [GS]
In 2017, he was awarded the Kurt Lewin medal by the European Association of Social Psychology which recognizes individuals in mid-career for their scientific excellence. More recently (2022), Dr. Briñol has been honored also with the mid-career award for outstanding scientific contribution to attitudes and social influence by the Society of Personality and Social Psychology (SASI-SPSP).
